Got a Saturn from someone in the mail and it was fully functional before it went through USPS. I get it and I get no picture and the motor doesn't spin the disc at all with the laser simply sitting there. I've checked the power supply and reseated everything with nothing improving. Is there something obvious or do I need to dig down into the soldering of components for this one?

Maybe you should try getting your saturn some Vage if it doesn't do dick.

All Joking aside something was probably fucked during shipping. Weird considering how durable Saturns are supposed to be.

Sorry to hear that. IIRC one thing that sometimes happens for Saturn, is the center hub the disc actively sits on gets out of position (pushed too far up or down to read properly). With the system I once saw it just used a tiny metal pole with little support.

It isn't a total loss as I received another Saturn who has a bad lid sensor and has a short to keep it closed at all times. But I'd rather have two working than one.

Probably is a solder joint that cracked with my luck.

Good excuse to attempt to mod this one if you have to solder anyway

Video AND disc access failure at the same time sounds like a shot motherboard or fuse.

I had this problem with a couple of Saturns, turned out the Metal plate was shorting something. Try powering On with it fuly dissassembly to see if changes anything
