Saturn getting stuck in different Title Screens

Hi there,

I have recently bought a Saturn (PAL -Model 2) with a couple of games (Sega Worldwide Soccer 97 and Daytona USA).

The console read both games on the first try. With Sega Worldwide Soccer 97 I get to the title screen, I can navigate through all the menus but after I pass the screen where the match it's supposed to start the screen goes black. If I leave the game on the title screen, when the kios mode is supposed to launch, the same, the screen goes black.

With Daytona, I have no problems booting the game either, but when I reach the Title Screen, the picture freezes on the first frame (it is supposed to show some cars racing using the game's engine), the game becomes unresponsive, I can still hear the music in the background though.

I have quickly tried to burn a CD and try a the swap/disc method but I did not manage to get pass the Sega License screen.

The discs have some scratches but I find it weird everything works fine except when it is supposed to display some actual 3d footage, like if there was a problem with some of the hardware related to displaying that.

Do you guys have any idea what might be the issue?

Could easily be the scratches or the laser being worn out. Do you know anyone nearby who owns a Saturn? You could try your games on his system or the other way around to isolate the problem.
