i wouldn't know what to call such piece of hardware but what im trying to talk about is a cart like device that goes into the Saturn's cart slot, what what that has is 2 more slots in which you could have a ram cart and a backup cart that could be selected at the flick of a switch? Can these be easily made or ??
Why not just get one of these: http://www.racketboy.com/store/sega-saturn/sega-saturn-action-replay-4m-auto-plus-ram-cart.html
No such device exists as far as I know. You have to manually swap cards if you want to switch functionality. EDIT: I Should add that some Chinese RAM cards have switches on them, but that is only for 1MB <--> 4MB compatibility mode. It has nothing to do with save-game memory unfortunately.
Should be rather trivial to make such a device - one connector to the Saturn, two (or more) slots for carts, and a switch for routing the signals (you might get away with just disconnecting VCC for inactive slots instead of switching all lines). But all that just to avoid swapping a cart? I don't see much of a point. Especially since you'd still have to get up to flip the switch anyways.
I've mentioned such a device probably 3 times already in different threads... It's not that difficult to make, it would look like a SNES import adapter. Here's such a thread: http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...cart-and-memory-cart-what-s-the-best-solution Please use the search function next time
its not the fact that i cant be bothered to swap the carts out. if i was able to make/ get hold of one i would like to use it for a personal project
In fact, some were made in China: - the 2 in 1 by forte: memory card + RAM cartridge - some 7 in 1 carts - another one with a round swith with 5 different config. one config has action replay [golden finger] + compressed AR memory + direct 4M backup memory: yes, backup memory instead of RAM extension. - the perfect! series ... They made a lot of different cartridges there.
