    Hi there,

I just wonder what platformers are worth importing on those two systems.
I've already played Keio 2 and Majical Hoppers.

Saturn; Willy Wombat, Capcom Generations vol 2, Clockwork Knight double pack, Liquid kids (very/too expensive though!), Taromaru (too expensive for what it is, also)

Saturn: Tryrush Deppy, Super Tempo (neither are easy to find).

  4. I assume you mean Japanese imports, right? The only Japan-only platformers I can think of for the N64 are the Doraemon games, I've played the first two, but not the third. They''re *BLAZING* Super Mario 64 clones in almost every way imaginable. The only gameplay innovation is the ability to change between different characters in order to get through various parts of the games (which is arguably a Mario rip-off, too, if you go all the way back to our version of SMB2 on he NES). Despite the lack of imagination, they're pretty good, better than a lot of other 3d platformers on the N64 like Starshot or Chameleon Twist.

Also, they're not necessarily imports, but if you haven't played Mystical Ninja Goemon (3d platformer), Goemon's Great Adventure (pseudo-2d platformer) and Space Station Silicon Valley (3d platformer) those are three of the best games on the system, but they hardly get any attention.

Steamgear Mash is a very fun isometric platformer on the Saturn.
Got Guardian Heroes yet? I recommend that too (though not a "platformer".)

Indeed. Both of those games are awesome. I loved Taromaru as well, so if you have $300 or so laying around, go ahead and check it out! [IMG]

In the US... and I can't stress this enough... ASTAL! Its cheap, its easy to find, and its one of the most beautiful 2D games I have ever laid eyes on.

Yep, Astal is great. And Guardian Heroes is a must own for any Saturn owner

Mischief Makers for N64 is a very fun game.

I bought, played, and sold again Mizubaku, Guardian Heroes. But I think they were more on the shooter side.
I used to play Super Tempo as well (both GG and SS versions) long time ago, but it wasn't so awesome...
i'll try tryrush deppy and willy wombat.

Willy Wombat is also crap. The saturn has almost no good platform games. The problem with Willy Wombat is that is becomes very boring quickly. How about trying Sonic Jam, or Sonic Flicky's Island (Sonic 3D) or Rockman 8 or X4 (X3 is pretty poor). I think I own almost ever Saturn platformer out there apart from one or two so takea look at my site for some info

yes it's true, and that's why I ask such a good question !
I think I will consider the purchase of a GBA, as I'm in love w/ platformers.

How many stages did you play?

Errr... to each his own, but Flicky's Island? Steaming pile, no?

Keio Yuugekitai is pretty much the best one, but I think everyone knows that. Rockman 8 isn't bad, but who the fuck wants to play another Rockman game, right?

I like Super Tempo a lot, I think all Red company games are worth looking into. Shin Shinobi Den is okay as well, not the brightest of the series but who can resist some campy Ninja action?

  15. Actually, I think Shin Shinobi Den is my second favorite game in the Shinobi series only after Shinobi 3. It plays a lot like Kenseiden on the Master System which was always one of my favorite games (hell of a lot better than Shinobi on the SMS).

I also like Sonic 3D Blast (Flicky's Island), though, so what the hell do I know.

A coule other good Saturn platformers no one's mentioned: Mr. Bones, Three Dirty Dwarves and Norse-by-Norsewest (sort of a puzzle-platformer, actually, but it ought to be mentioned).

So what's the best "above to 16bits" system regarding its platformers library ?
