does anyone know how to setup Sega Japan wireless pad to control TV? It has buttons to ON/OFF and change the channel but doesn't seem to do anything with my SONY TV? It was given to me but with no instruction... i have another set boxed but that's away in the storage building... This is white wireless official pad from Sega Japan, not that black thing you can get from eBay. cheers
. ok. will take picture and post here tonight... still anyone with any idea? I really don't want to drive to storage building for having a look at the instruction booklet... cheers
picture wait! I remember seeing an auction on YJ for the same wireless pad. The picture is bit out of focus but you can see what it looks like. if you are still not satisfied I will put the more clearer picture later. In case anyone want to bid for these the auction can be found here. cheers
Re: picture There was a set of these in Hard Off not so long ago. I'll have a look tomorrow to see if they are still there. Just hope that they had instructions. Yakumo
. that would be much appreciated. it will save me trip to the storage building which is about half an hour driving... compared to black 3rd party thing from US this official one is much higher build quality and used 2 AA batteries unlike 3rd party which used 2 x AAA. There are battery compartment at each side for better weight distribution and the button feel is just like normal pad... it's just that there are markings on the pad to control TV like ON/OFF, changing channel and sound etc. I'd love to control TV with this thing which means one less remote to deal with... cheers
Well, this is just my two cents, but I hope you're trying to get this to work with an older TV...as I assume that the TV controlling part works just like any other universal remote. It would have configurations for many common, known television models...but as soon as newer models come out, older universal remotes loose comapatability.
Re: picture How much was the set? RU planning to buy a pair for yourself? I'm in the market, but always forget to bid, or get outbid. Lemme know after your next Hard On trip..
No, I don't want them Gaijin Punch. I have far to much junk in the house. The missus is always going on at me for having pads everywhere :smt019 I can pick them up for you if you'd like. What's your price range? Yakumo
Are you sure its not buttons for turning the pads on and off, and changing the channel (frequency) of the IR transmitter/receivers so you can (for example) change the frequency so it DOESN'T interfere with TV remote controls. That seems more likely rather than building a controller that can change TV channels.
Funny, it's the other way around at my crib. :smt033 3000-4000 sounds fair for a set of two... not sure what Hard Off's prices are. Don't go out of your way... just LMK.
. there's no switch of sort on the receiver side so I don't think receiver has anything to do with TV operation. On the pad itself START button acts as ON/OFF switch for TV when you set the toggle switch at TV instead of PR1/PR2. My guessing was ON/OFF IR code is kind of standard at least in Japan and pretty much all TV sold there include this? Often when I bought the universal remote at least ON/OFF switch works right away on TV I have... Guess I really need to read the booklet to find out myself.... unless Yamatoku comes back with what the booklet says I will have to go and dig up my copy... Oh well... This bl**dy wireless thing cost me time and money but since missus is complaining about wires and with baby it's better be safe than sorry... And I need to put the shelf high up there to clear up the junk off floor... cheers
. tachikoma here's the picture of my pad. as you can see there's TV On/Off under START button as well as CH and VOL around D-pad not to mention quite obvious TV/VIDEO under the A button. I'm sure this thing is meant to act as IR remote for TV... cheers
You are indeed correct, that does look as if its meant for TV controlling. How bizarre! I was confused as I have seen IR controllers with channel switches (not on the receiver, as I assume that can detect within a preset range). You change the channels on the pads to prevent interference with TV's. I have a robot thing with IR devices to interact with, and that messed up the TV... Like Blur2040 said, it will probably only work on older TV sets, but thats probably a good thing so you dont wear out the button membrane's.
dj98: I'm in the market for a set. Since Yakumo coudln't come through, I'll do my best on my own. If I get a manual, I'll see what I can see to help you out. Paul
so i finally brought out the box set alright I pulled out and have a look at the instruction sheet and here's what it said on configuring for TV. Basically you need to hold two buttons depends on the type of TV you have or so it says.
