Anyone know how to use one of these? It boots up and says completed, but when you open the disc drive to place another disc it goes to the dashbord. Is that correct?

Probably not... can you then boot the disc from the dashboard using ¨Start Application¨ ?
Is your disc fine? And you might try asking at www.segaxtreme.com as well.

Do you have the red or the black one? Maybe you have the wrong one.

Also, what exactly are you trying to boot?

Is the disc of the correct region for the Saturn? That will still matter I think you'll find.

I have the black one. It boots on my UK, US, and Jap Saturn. It also boots on my saturn Dev kit (Psyq). It loads and then says completed.
but when I open th disc lid it goes to the dashboard.

Your Psy-Q is a standard Saturn, maybe with a VCD port and country switch on it, actually. The cart that plugs into it is the Psy-Q, not the saturn ;-)

I was told one of the CDs boots one thing, the other boots something different. Maybe you have the wrong CD?

When using the system disc it does go to the dashboard when you open it up. that is correct as the disc is disabling the security check, all you gotta do is put in your game and push the start aplication button, however check to see if you have either a third party(games not published by sega) or first party disc(games published by sega, as discs will boot those games. For example. if you want to play burning rangers, then you have to use a first party disc since the game is published by sega, however if you wanted to play marvel vs street fighter you would use a third party system disc since it is published by capcom, got any questions let me know.
