Saturn system link cable extension

How much would you be able to extend the Saturn system link cable? I think the one I have that came with Steeldom is about 2 meters. Ideally I would like to extend this to 10, so I can hook up a Saturn in the other room.

Is this possible, or would there be too much signal loss for it to even work?

The same question goes for the Dreamcast as well, even though I don't have the link cable for it yet.
