Any way to convert a Saturn pad to dreamcast by killing a cheap dreamcast 3rd party controller? I want it for fighting games.
There are actual 3rd party adapters for Dreamcast that will let you plug in a Saturn (or PSX) controller. I don't know what prices are these days, but I can't imagine they are very expensive. Edit: here's one on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Total-Contr...t=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item2a0abf44ce
Total Control 3 is my default for fighters While we're on the subject I need a Saturn-PC converter I want to use the analog pad on my lappy
I have a couple of Total Control 3 units, and they're quite awesome. The only thing I haven't tried for myself is the Twin Stick conversion for Virtual On Oratorio Tangram, which seems to have been designed deliberately to be able to use the Saturn twin sticks with that controller.
Honestly best bet is a total control 3, by the time you hack a dc controller and buy wires and solder, its going to cost about the same ($30). Btw you should also check out asciii fight pad. They usually go for a reasonable price and from personally owning one they are quite fantastic to have.
A few more adapters give you the ability to connect a Sega Saturn controller: EMS Total Control 5 Plus Playstation (supports DualShock) & Saturn Controllers, supports Racing Wheels and Twin Sticks + a VMU slot Skillz Dream Connection 3in1 Playstation (supports DualShock) & Saturn Controllers, supports Racing Wheels and PC Keyboards Skillz Dream Connection 4in1 Playstation (supports DualShock) & Saturn Controllers, supports Racing Wheels and PC Keyboards + a VMU slot copied from: http://segaxtreme.net/community/topic/9732-the-best-dreamcast-peripherals/ Actually I own the Skillz Connection 3in1. It was much cheaper than the Total Control adapters.
You should've gotten the official Capcom ASCII Fighter pads or the Treamcast pad, which is an identical copy of a Saturn pad. IIRC, the Treamcast pad comes with 3 different D-pad parts (4-way D-pad/miniature stick/analog knob) and makes a 'clicky' sound, just as the NGPC does.
I've never seen that Treamcast pad. How hard are they to aquire nowadays? What did they originally sell for?
Pretty cheap I think (about € 15), there's even a knock-off from this pad by another Chinese company... I once had the chance to buy an IR-version too where I used to worked at. Problem is that these pads don't have any rumble feature nor memcard connector. The IR version did have the latter, as it used a receiver similar to the Treamcast VCD-remote. EDIT: this one
