So I just got a saturn vcd card in my hisaturn, but I get this message, "....application needed to run program" or something. WTF i thought it was plug and play???
. what's the brand of VCD card? Remember Sega, JVC and Hitachi all made their own version of VCD card although IMHO JVC twin operator is the one to get really... And there's HK bootleg which I won't even go there... Once we know the brand of VCD card then others can help you out on that... Since you have Hi-saturn there's no compatibility issue unless you have PAL VCD card... ;p cheers
I have heard that a region switch or Action Replay/4-in-1 cart is needed for certain SS/VCD combinations, like always it was quite a long time ago so I dont know anything more about it :-(
. that's when you trying to use JPN VCD card on US Saturn but since the original poster has Hi-Saturn that can be ruled out. I believe its' HK bootleg and would be surprise if it works! :Hangman: seriously I was told HK bootleg is so poorly made it's not worth it... cheers
I have an action replay I have the action replay, but it doesn't help. I have tried the card in three different saturns with the same result. Oh well. BTW, what games supported the card? I only know of Lunar.
. wanga dead heat+real arrange uses VCD for video playback I think? there aren't that many games use VCD card. I use mine to see some of my VCD when missus is using our main Telly. cheers
Gungriffon uses it, apparently (at least it has the movies in MPEG format on the disc in addition to the normal codec)
. mate think you got mixed up with Hi-Saturn and Hi-Navi. They are completely different beast... like previously mentioned believe it's HK bootleg. I have four VCD cards from all three brands - Sega, JVC and Hitachi and they all works just fine with JPN Saturn. JVC one has the added bonus of playing PAL VCD as well as PhotoCD although I have no PhotoCD so never tested this feature... cheers
No Saturns have them built in. The only Saturns that included one with a purchase were the HiSaturns, and I'm not sure if they were ALWAYS included or not. The V-Saturn didn't have one bundled unless it was done at the store level. JVC released 3 revisions of their card. Except for the sticker the cards are all identical in terms of features and interface. JVC released two updated cards, I don't think Sega or Hitachi did. The JVC VC-3 is the best one to get since it's more MPG compatible. All the others are prone to sync issues where the audio becomes more and more offset for any slightly unusual MPG streams. That reminds me I've got a stack of these things somewhere...
