Morning! So I plugged my old Saturn into my HDTV, expecting to be greeter with some glorious low poly Sega Rally action and was greeted with this: The screen is split in half, the top showing a stretched Saturn screen and the bottom just garbage static. I figured it was the cable or the fact the Saturn has been shelved for 6 years at my ex's house so grabbed a different scart lead... Same picture, tried the other Saturn, same thing again! So its definitely an issue with the TV, it probably Can't handle the Saturn's low resolution signal and is freaking out. Anyone seen this before? Should I just order an RF lead and play in blurry vision ? Should I 60hz the Saturn? Order a HDMI upscaler? Google hasn't been any help with this problem so not sure how to proceed.
Does your TV have a yellow composite plug anywhere? I'd try that. I can't speak for RGB, but some HDTVs have the gall to straight up refuse to process low resolution component. (with a "no signal" error or equivalent).
If you must play on a HDTV instead of a proper CRT, the HDMI upscaler is probably the best option in the long run. Composite works but is looking very meh, and I'd rather do tax forms all day erry day for the rest of my miserable life than using RF.
