I just got my saturn and it wont read cds, i adjusted the laser and still nothing, ive noticed on other consoles like the ps1 that the laser is really bright you can see the red dot through the cd but on this one it cant be seen at all through a cd. Im guessing the laser controller chip (BAxxxxx) is dying?

Hopefully someone else has had this problem and knows a fix? im thinkin new cd drive.

Stop making multiple posts about the same thing!

Don't adjust the laser unless you know what you're doing - easy way to kill it.

OK, if you know what you're doing, which pots did you adjust and in which order? And what readings did you set them to on your oscilloscope? Also, where did you get the test CD from?

i only adjusted the pot on the laser and put it back to its original resistance, you dont need those tools to do that.

There is a procedure to follow when installing a Saturn laser. I have mentioned it on the forum before. You did not follow it. The very first thing you do is check the RF level of the laser diode. Yes, you need specific tools to do that. There are then adjustments you make using the test CD and an oscilloscope.

You NEVER adjust the pot on the APC board - it states in the service manual that it is factory set and must not be adjusted.
