Seems I'm always late to all the cool threads. Indeed, I remember back in 1996 this was all over the place, you had to be blind to not see it. Theres was a big netlink package, in a box almost twice the lenght of the regular US Saturn box. It came with a Saturn (duh) a Netlink cart, that keyboard Micjohvan found and I think (but I'm not sure) a Saturn mouse. All the parts were available separately, so I think the bundle was meant for people without PCs. There was also a PS/2 to Saturn port adapter if you wanted to use a normal PC keyboard. Dude it was in every flyer, the ones that came with any Saturn console or game.
I have that saturn netlink boxed set and the keyboard is shaped a little different. But I am sure sega had many different versions of the package. The netlink mouse was exactly like the mouse for the megadrive/genesis.
Indeed, for example the one I saw didnt came with a game, just the browser and the same brown-box looking bootleg sampler every saturn came with back then.
I just got the Saturn Keyboard Adapter and Mouse but I'm still saving up for the actual Netlink... but that keyboard is an awesome find. Now we just need to find a picture of the box
I remember when that bundle was in stores. At one software etc it just sat there in the front window for months never touched. Anyone know if browsing was a pain on saturn?
I dont remember much of the Netlink (working) but I do recall this "city" which wasnt much more than a mid-90s CG landscape with a bunch of web 1.0 sites shaped like buildings. The browser itself was like an earlier version of the DC one, made by planetweb. As for browsing, it was as painful as with any PC with a 28.8k modem was: too-fucking-slow... Thank god for broadband, Wifi, and EDGE.
