Last night I went to play my SNES via my XRGB mini, but there was no picture, only a purple an black image. Sound was fine. Im using an NTSC SNES scart cable and its always worked fine until last night. I plugged the cable into another SNES and the same (non) purple and black image came up. I assume its the scart cable and my guess is maybe the resistor or caps in the cable went bad. Opening up the scart cable didn't reveal anything obvious, i.e. no bad caps or loose wires.

Does anyone have any ideas that might shed some light on the problem?

Ill try to get an image of the screen up, but like i said, it only shows purple on the bottom half of the screen and black on top.

Heres an image of the diagram my scart cable follows:

    Thanks!

    ^^ did you check part/wire continuity with a multi-meter?
it's possible a wire is frayed/snapped along the cable somewhere, OR some pins are bent just enough to miss contacting the related areas properly?
    ...
i had this similar issue with a psx Y.U.V. cable (scart) and it turned out the pins on the plug, the one used psx side was bent slightly, more than enough to miss it's target, and fail connection. (i bent them back carefully, so far, no further issues encountered)
had a ps2 CVBS cable (composite) die, a wire snapped along the line somewhere behind the flex shielding, whizzed it and went Y.Pb.Pr. (component) all the way.
check each wire individually including capacitor and double-check to see ALL pins are properly aligned/not bent in the slightest, both sides of the cable.
sorry if this is no help, but if the cable was subject to constant removal/use (as mine was) it's possible one of the three problems occurred? (some capacitors DON'T show signs of destruction, they work or they don't, and some pins won't look at all bent until viewed under a powerful magnifying glass, and as for wires, you get the idea!)
    hope you fix it? :smile-new:

WHOOPS! Meant to post this in the repair thread.

Thanks for the reply. I didnt check with a multimeter but will later tonight if I get a chance. However, I did look for any bent or misaligned pins the the AV connector but didnt see anything wrong.
