SCART questions from a noob

Hey folks,

I'm new to the whole RGB/SCART things d I'm a little confused. Does a SCART connection carry audio as well as video? I looked at some schematics on google and it looks like it's got pins for it, but many of the SCART switches I've seen online have AV jacks in them, so I'm somewhat confused. Can anyone clear this up for me?

 

Yes, scart carries audio. Switchers often have phono output to connect to a stereo
