Hey guys, I need some help, this is more too europeans because its about a SCART cable but any help is welcome.. I got a faulty SCART cable, dont show any picture on my tv and a very dark/unwatchable picture on other TV.. I opened the SCART and this is what I got.. maybe a capacitor broken? Another thing is that my cable have 4 capacitors and a resistor and all schematics I see have 3 capacitors and a resistor.. Is this a full RGB SCART cable? Im only used to RCA to SCART adaptors.. Thanks in advance..
Is it an official cable? If not, what brand / where is it from? Have you tried it on another console? Is it a European console? This will more than likely be the cable being made poorly, so check your output signals are to spec for SCART.
I dont know, I got it without any box or so... Yes, I tried on other consoles and same result... Its all european consoles... No image, only with brightness in max I can see something in the scren but without any colour... Pins on dreamcast:
Looks like its intended purpose is to output composite sync with 15KHz RGB. If your TV does not support 15Khz - then no video output. As its wired .. not sure if it would work. Pins used in your photo; LEFT to RIGHT 1) Ground 2) Right Audio 3) Left Audio 4) +12V 7) Mode Select 2 10) Composite Sync 14) Blue Out 15) Green Out 16) Red Out Here's a link for the Dreamcast A/V port and pin descriptions: Dreamcast AV Connector Here's a link to Dreamcast SCART pinout I'd recommend buying a Dreamcast SCART cable. I recommend thefoo.83 eBay seller. I have purchased several cables from them, custom made and very good quality. If you get one ... they have a very snug fit, make sure you insert all the way in.
Thanks for the answer.. Yes I previous checked the pinout and came to the same conclusion.. I didnt have a rca cable so I decided to transform this rgb scart cable to a normal scart composite cable and I managed to do it.. In the dreamcast end I removed pin 4,7,10,15,16 and I gently switched pin 14 to 13 place where composite output is... In the scart end I removed the circuit board and I conected ground to ground, audio left to audio left, audio right to audio right and composite to composite.. Now I have a working cable, not the best quality, but a working cable.. I already have a vga box... Many thanks for the replys
