    YEP another question.

I cannot find good S-Video cables for the Dreamcast the Interact cables for example I've had 2 and the Audio side of the cables need to be in just the right way or I won't get any right channel sound. This is across 2 TVs and 2 cables and 3 dreamcasts. The VGA Box isn't for sale at Racket boy at the moment So my next idea was to try Scart to S-Video

    would this work?

Same deal with the Genesis I found these by accident http://www.retro-access.com/ourshop/cat_150582-RGB-SCART-cables.html

I'd have to find one for the dreamcast (Edit I did It's listed under RGB cable on amazon) but this seems like a good S-Video option, I'm just not sure if this will work.

I find it funny how Sega took it upon themselves to make their own brand of video output connection options (RF, AV, Scart, VGA acorss various regions mind you) in just about every category except S-vid. With that said, Yes, it's hard finding a decent 3party S-vid cable for the console.

The Picture is good, it's just the sound that never seems right. My Saturn S-Video cable gives me no issues at all.

I figured if I did Scart to S-video I'd be set and possibly have a superior picture if I used good cables. Same with the Genesis, I wouldn't have to mod the hardware to get the best possible picture.

I'm just not sure if these Cables will work on an NTSC system.

Looks like you answered some of it while I was typing

must have done haha, it should work fine i dont think the pins outs are any different at least for the s-vido pins, i could however be horribly wrong! and things may blow up... or not :)

At worst I'll get everything in Black and white. BUT The Idea did come from Yakumo his set up had RGB-S-Video converter, albit higher end than what I'll be using.

I don't believe the Genesis outputs S-video, does it? It doesn't matter what cables you use.

I know you have to mod it to get it to output S-Video, But it should output RGB

    I think?

Yes, the Genesis outputs RGB, but unless you have an RGB-compatible display, that'll be of no use to you.

Hence the idea to convert that RGB signal to S-Video or I could go for really high Quality and do Component, But that's more cables than necessary.

You misunderstand the nature of those SCART to S-video adapters. They don't convert the image from RGB to S-video. SCART is capable of carrying S-Video as well as RGB and composite. Those adapters simply connect to the pins for S-video. If the device does not output S-video (which the Genesis doesn't) then you'll get no image from those adapters. They should work with the Saturn and DC, though.

there should be a picture still but it'll be black and white just no colour if using scart > svideo from genesis but if its modded to svideo then its all gravy :)

In Japan, they did release an official Dreamcast S-Video lead (HKT-8000). Although if you can find it the Dreamcast VGA Box (HKT-8100) supports VGA and S-Video and Component...

SO I would need something that converts the signal then rather than just a pass through?
