Scart Switch Project - Redesigned and completed After finding zero options for scart splitters that provided enough ports I've decided to make my own. The design is based off of Ben Heckendorn from: http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/13/how-to-make-a-solid-state-a-v-switcher/ I'm going to be using pretty much the same components except more of them. Instead of the push button design I'm going with a rotary switch. The box will have 10 scart inputs and HDMI output. For the RGB to HDMI this box is being put in: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00988GMLG I'm not going to be printing circuits, everything is going to be wired with dupont connectors and off the self soic to dip cards. On to the pictures: More to come soon, just waiting on more parts to arrive
I finally got around to finishing this. My original intentions with using the soic adapters and dupont connectors made it little crazy. Not to mention there would be some audio interference on some of the ports. So I did a redesign The 3 position switch on top, lets you control choose RGB/AV/AUTO mode for the RGB to HDMI converter.
I really like it. Can you make them to order? By the way, you have the same keyboard as I do although mine has Japanese characters on it as well as Roman.
Make them to order, never really thought about it. I do have one more pcb board, I had to have two made when I ordered it. If anything, I'd sell the board and list all the parts I used to make it. If someone whats a part list I can put everything up. I have a friend that has a small cnc mill, that is how the box was cut for the scart connectors.
^^ if i didn't know better, i'm looking at a 'blake 7' prop...or a professional timer/distribution board, used for various 'agricultural' endeavors! :friendly_wink: ... the mechanical switches have always worked out BETTER! got an electronic Y.Pb.Pr. changer but the feedback on screen is SO DANGEROUS, i've had to stick to using the analogue audio passthrough, it's all it's good for! a NASTY screen pulse when using ANY form of video through it! without the channel selector, issues are remedied on the spot! the POS is called a 'joytech 540C' and it looks like a fake 360 (meant to) and has a custom socket for the 360 itself! (didn't have that cable so i used the standard component cable for 360 and reversed audio back through the selector socket so no channels wasted) ... seriously, that design gives me WOOD! good stuff indeed! :friendly_wink: it's the sort of MECHANICAL switch one could swear by! (f*ck electronic, it's CRAP and prone to FAILURE and interference...as mentioned with the joytech POS i have)
