Agreed. I've driven many times while under the influence of weed (as well as alcohol.... NOT proud of this), and there are definitely safe and unsafe levels. Smoking a joint and driving isn't that big of a deal, in my opinion, but three blunts and a gravity bong rip are grounds for falling asleep/having a panic attack at the wheel.

The other day I was on the bus on my way to school, and I could've sworn I smelled weed on the bus, but I knew it wasn't coming from me. A few minutes later, the bus driver stopped at a green light.

If she was high, she shouldn't have been while driving a bus full of students around, but I'd rather her be high than using a cell phone (which some other bus drivers do).

Sometimes I wonder if my personal stance on drugs (at least pot) has been an illusion to doing something right. Am I being brainwashed, or am I right? Either way, I haven't ever drank or done anything at all, and whatever. I say alcohol is way fucking worse the pot, and on top of that, cigarettes and alcohol has become a fucking staple of society.

Unfortunately I think the same would happen with pot if it were legalized. People will always find a way to make it stupid.

Make them sit there w/ a cheese burger in front of them.

I had one panic attack ever in my life, and it was while I was driving. I think I had smoked earlier that day, but I'm convinced it was all the Mountain Dew I was pounding (this was towards the end of my college career). Freaked me out. I called an ambulance (little did I know I'd be fine in a minute). Fuck me...scary not being able to breathe.

I'm all for the debate being brought up but the hypocrisy of it being brought up now does piss me off a bit. This isn't really a true debate about whether the criminal penalties outweigh the social harms like it really should be. This is a debate about whether Big Brother should look the other way because he's broke.

Yeah, well, things are tough all over. There is some merit to the legalize-it-and-tax-it arguement though. I doubt it would be enough to make up for the 40 billion dollar shortfall or however much it is the California state government has, but every little bit helps.

Barc0de  I'm glad to see that we still are on the page here for legalizing of marijuana and what good points it would have.

I have stated my points on legalizing of weed on multiple forums and IM's and can fully say it should be legal since it is a natural growing plant not a man-made substance. Look at how Alcohol was back in the dare compare it to marijuana and you will see same thing, with a different substance.

thats just the general public. Cigarettes for some reason are seen as being "cool" for some dumb reason. I was a smoker for about six months when I was 15 years old. I'm just glad my last cigarette I smoked was a Camel Non-filtered which was way too strong and was exactly what I needed to learn why smoking wasn't all that was made out to be from my friends.

we already have people that want to get high everyday I know some of my friends are that way. But what can you say for people between the ages of 15 to 17? they don't have a real reason to want to have a job, and they can't pass the drug test if they did manage to find a job.

if people want to see what legalizing marijuana would do to the usa look at the places that already have done this. Like Amsterdam and I think some parts of Canada have it legal-ish. someone that lives in Canada want to verify this for me?

As a cross-continental ex-smoker, I can say that tobacco is really not seen as "cool" anymore... not in the west, anyways. Compared to when I was in college some 12 years ago, you are now treated as a social inept. Japan is another story, but it's getting there (slowly). My guess is that in another 10 years, the smoker will go the way of those rednecks that dip/chew: they will be socially banned from society. Tobacco won't be illegal in our time though.

This brings up another question: does McDonalds need to do fucking drug tests? The fact is the only drug that shows up on a piss test is Marijuana since everything else leaves your system so quickly. Ironically, it has the least negative effects (long and short term) of all the illegal drugs.

Rather than legalize it, they should raise the penalty for carrying it.

I am disappointed in Schwarzenegger for this.

If I was standing around for 20 minutes outside at work, I'd get asked what the fuck I'm doing. Stick a cigarette in my hand and I'm on a smoking break!

i think it's got an equal right vis-a-vis alcohol and tobacco. Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it bad - even if it is bad, stress is bad too, but I don't see anyone outlawing it.

Drinking the 5000 bottles of MD required to "Win" the Limited Edition Mountain Dew Xbox ????

How many American kids lost teeth, their brains and their central nervous system to that disgusting green shit in order to try a shot at that Xbox deal.

MD was actually banned in the UK, but for some reason they saw fit to ADD sugar to what was already a disgustingly sugary substance.

How bout just not policing it. Like say its illegal like jaywalking. Maybe get a slap on the wrist or something.

Cause if you legalize you might promote it too much.

    Maybe just decriminalize it.

Maybe that doesn't make sense. But, we need to stop the wasting of police
