I bought a new laptop on July 2 for $679. After $180 in mail-in rebates I was looking at a total price of $499, so I bought it. I saw an ad yesterday in the paper from CC offering the same PC for $449, so I went there today thinking I was going to get $50 back since they have a 30-day price guarantee. But what really happened was that CC dropped the actual computer price to $479 with a $30 mail-in rebate to get to $449. They had my purchase price at $679 and the new purchase price at $479 so I ended up getting a $200 credit. I can still use the original rebates that were offered when I bought the computer at $679, so that's another $180 I'll be getting back. Total price to me: $299. I guess what it comes down to is holding on to the rebate until right before it's due.... And hot chicks.
