I've just picked up a hmv branded psx scorpion light gun and for some reason my psx is not picking it up. I've tried various games and with g-con mode on and off. The gun works fine on my ps2 though. Has anyone else had any problems like this?

The Scorpion was made by Blaze, not HMV. If it has an HMV sticker on it, that's more likely to be a retail sticker.

Are you using the G-Con adaptor?

It's more than just a sticker, the blaze name was dropped from the box and replaced with hmv, Also hmv is printed on the side of the gun.
Yeah I'v used the adaptor. No difference. The PlayStation doesn't even no the gun is plugged in the controller port. But like I say it's fine on my ps2 so I know the gun works fine.

It's possible that the PS1 has the rumble fuse blown. Have that checked.

I'll check that out, thanks. Would that stop the ps1 recognising the gun then? Do you know where that fuse is on the board?

The fuse provides 8.5v for the controller to supply power to the rumble motors. Sadly the fuse "name" depends on the board design. So no I can't point you which one is it. Have all fuses checked.

Also you can use a normal dualshock controller and test if the rumble feature works.

Just got round to looking at this again. I've found a fuse blown, ps602. I haven't done anything with it yet, I just wanted to see if anyone can confirm what this fuse is for. PlayStation model number scph 5552 if that helps.
    Thanks in advance.

    ...

Ok so I replaced fuse, and love and behold my light gun is now working. Now for some time crises!
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction l_oliveira.
