I have a scph-10000 with pcmcia hdd. however i dont have the disc needed to setup up the hdd osd. what files are needed and where do they need to be placed on the memory card and hdd. also how does one generate mcid using a scph-10000?

some extra info. I do have the old ps1 exploit working on it and installed kermit(not useful yet do to my hdd issue), also ule 4.40h is installed so i have access to the hdd hidden files.

You can't use a CDR copy of the HDD utility disc on a SCPH-10/15/18000 because the disc aways tries to install the Memory Card drivers and only after that is done it will proceed to format the hard disk. Memory Card related functions do not work from copied discs because they rely on DISC-ID and other data that only exist on original utility discs. You will need to buy an utility disc from someone to be able to format it.

Alternate solutions are possible but it would require a lot of hard manual work with winhex and it will require you to remove the drive from it's case.

Luckily for you, there is one for sale on Yahoo Japan right now, the auction ends in less than 18 hours.

lol already removed the hd frome the case once. I currently have bbnavi .32 on it that i manually installed from throwing it into the us side and doing the install. my big problem is the data on the memory card to do the hd check of the mbr(i dont know what data is needed). i learned a lot of stuff from your posts on other boards. i could even use that setup and just drop the older hd files in place like you mentioned in another post.

what's the name of the disc we're looking for that jsut adds osd- I have almost all versions of bbnav original, but none of the hd setup discs- a link to the auction would work fine as well as I'm interested too, but can wait on this if there's competition here :D

Can't you just use uLE's HDD manager to create+format partitions? It won't install the HDD OSD, but you could use the decrypted/hacked one in case you really need the updates browser. I don't remember how I setup my external HDD, but it was surely not by using the HDD utility disk (I have neither the disk nor a retail console it would run on). I think I used a hacked-up uLE on a TOOL :033:

By the way: I'm quite sure I included code in Kermit to format the HDD in case the system partitions are not found, although this has never been tested yet. How does the program react when you start it on an unformatted HDD?

Ya Kermit formatted the drive with no problems. i had to krack it open and format on a pc to clear the data for format testing. but it is all good.

I am still stuck with the same problem. If anyone has a japanese hdd utility or bb navi they would be willing to sell. let me know. my biggest problem is with the memory card files. basically i can convert a bbnavi to v1 hdd by switching files.

Thank you, good to know it works. I think you were the first to test it...

Sorry, I can't help you with the disc. You could try asking some of the FMCB installers (there is a corresponding thread in the official forum) whether they can install for a japanese-region console; that will at least produce a bootable memory card, although it'll just start the ROM OSD, not the HDD-enabled version. However, you should be able to use the hacked HDDOSD with your console and a correctly-formatted drive (which you seem to have).
