    Hi,

I have no idea which HEX has better features/better stealth, so please enlighten me. I've heard those are the two used for this board.
    Thanks for the input!
    Edit: Mayumi 2.1?

    PU8 - use Stealth 2.8a

You will need to enter "dino mode" (hold reset for 3 seconds, then see if game works, if not press reset and repeat until it does).

Mayumi v2.1 works great on PU7

Do I have to enter this dino mode for everything or just for Dino Crisis? It would rally suck if I had to enter dino mode every time I change discs.

A bit late, I know, but still:

I tried with a Stealth 2.8a and it didn't work. So I checked all connections a few times, still nothing. I flashed another chip (on my K150) - nothing. Legit games still work fine, with burned images it sound as if the laser just hits the disk a few times and then it gives up. I even checked the bias and gain too.
Maybe the diagram is wrong? This is the diagram I used:

    Please help!
    Thanks..

Those look exactly the same to me. If it's not the diagram and the connections are all good (I checked so many times - I can still hear the beeping) I must have made a mistake while flashing the chip(s). Or could it be something else entirely? Hmm.

Some people reported issues with the k150.

Burn an audio disc using the same brand of blank discs as for the games you have. See if it reads said audio disc. If it does, then it's probably your chip and/or installation. If it doesn't read it, then it's probably your laser.

Are you using 12C508 or 12F508 with the K-150? I personally had issues with the C series but F worked fine with it.

That's helpful. It doesn't read the audio disc either. That means it could be the laser? I checked the voltages and they seem to be fine. The laser unit is a KSM-440BAM. I have a spare unit lying around and will test that one.

I'm using 12C508 (mostly because I didn't know that the F series is re-writable) but I ordered some 12F508 too just now, to play with.
Re-reading the burned 12C508 returned exactly what was written so I'm pretty sure the chips are OK.

I will report back after replacing the laser but I would be really sad to throw away a laser unit that just need to be tweaked - please tell me if you know something to look out for. Thanks!

Interestingly enough, the replacement BAM doesn't even spin up with 11.4 mV, the other one did. However around 24 mV it does work and it reads everything the other one didn't, including the copies I made.
I'm confused now. At least we know the chip and wiring are ok. Any ideas about the laser?

Edit: So I learned that the 20 mV BAM is a chinese clone. Well, ok. At least it work I guess?
