SCPH-90003 Pstwo - Random Crashing

Any suggestions what this could be?

It's a modded SCPH-90003, chip appears to be working fine. If left alone it tends to crash, usually on an FMV sequence at a random interval. It occurs after around 30 minutes, a restart when it's crashed gives it another 30 minutes at least.

If left with a game that doesn't have FMV it can be left overnight with no issues.

I've replaced the fan to no avail thinking it could be overheating but I'm starting to wonder if it's something more sinister. Any ideas?

 

Possibly the laser? I’ve seen a lot of these that have problems with fmvs and dvd videos, even brand new some of the lasers were flaky.
Try a game with a skipable fmv and see if it is actually freezing or is waiting for a data load.

 

Just for reference if it comes up in somebody's search this was repaired by @8bitplus and simply needed the heat pads replacing.
