Folloing on from my posts in the other threads.. My New NTSC (supposedly!) Xbox arrived and showed signs that all was not well.. The Xbox apparantly smokes when plugged in.. that woul dbe due to the fact that the PSU is 110V and the input voltage used was 240V!..... Nothing to do with the fact it had been opened previously, has most internal screws missing, no IDE cable and there was browning on the following points of the Mobo! (pic used is a reference one but the Blue circle is where i found my 'browning') im guessing that its a failed mod chip attempt... Oh and now the seller says that he assumed it was an american Xbox purely because it was a 110V model......OH:
Well try and clean the brown off the best you can and then check for any broken traces around in that area.If it looks clean that you should be ok.Also I hope the hdd is locked to the motherboard. If the PSU is fried you might be able to fix it,or just throw in a V.10-V.11 240 xbox psu if you have a spare. Also you can change the region of any xbox if you have the right eeprom, but you need the xbox to be modded first.
I think that Andy (DiddyDonn) said he has a spare UK PSU so i will get one from him and then let the testing commence! Seems i am getting nowhere with the seller..
sorry to bump and Old thread but on the above pic, is thre any way of telling exactly which region this was? Cheers
Not without booting it up first. Also I do have a unbanned ntsc eeprom if you want to make the xbox ntsc.
