I know par and gg codes are not implemented yet, but isn't there a possibility to use cheats on sd2snes by patching a rom? I tried CCCGP but no luck. Usually I don't use cheats but I started to play Zelda which I never completed on the snes... I forgot to save and that dungeon i'm in was so hard I'd love to be able to walk through it instead of having to struggle through it again. Thanks.
I'm not sure about patching roms like you said, but the .srm save files are the same as ones used by emulators. You could load the save on an emulator and get past wherever you're stuck, then save it and reload it on the sd2snes. It's not ideal, but it will work in the meantime until cheat codes are supported.
I've heared of a method to put a textfile on the sd-card which contains a cheatcode and will then load with the rom. Can anybody confirm that and give me a hint on how this file should look like to work?
That won't work unless cheats are implemented. The SD2SNES firmware has to know to read the text files and know what to do with them. Anyway, I'm hesitant to make this comment, but... I suck a lot at action games, and yet I've still beaten ALttP with 0 deaths/saves (I left my console on for several days to do it though, pausing to go to work, to sleep, etc.). That is definitely a game that you can play close to the belt if you have the patience to do so.
I have never beaten lttp, although I have come close. It's got nothing to do with not being able to, its just for some reason I just stopped. But there's no way I could do it without saving. I like to explore too much and waste time doing stuff that isn't important. I seem to have a very hard time finishing a lot of games. Have only actually finished the gb(a) Zelda games. Haven't finished a ff game yet, but I've beaten chrono trigger many many times.
I can say the same for the original LoZ, sadly. Beating ALttP with a 000 ending (assuming you're willing to leave your console powered on) is pretty much exactly like beating it with saving, except that you will probably want to be a bit more careful - slow, methodical play is key - and always carry plenty of fairies and potions and not be too shy about leaving a dungeon if you don't think you're going to make it (though I think I only did this a couple times if at all).
