Do you think he'll get the price he's asking? http://cgi.ebay.com/Nintendo-NES-St...3218?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item2eb39be202
As the game is sealed, as others elsewhere have mentioned, there's no guarantee that the game is actually inside the box. Unless the VGA folks x-rayed the thing (unlikely) who's to say it's not a fake box (or an original), re-sealed, and any old crap inside. Unlikely? Given the money involved I'd say it was very likely. Anyway, this auction keeps appearing over and over again. I suspect the seller is just buying some free publicity for themselves... No one would pay $500,000 for it and it's not even worth anything remotely close to that amount.
Correct me I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure this is the same person who recently bought the exact game which was on auction and sold for $24k and now he/she wants to make their profit!
My favorite part of the listing: "Become a part of history today -- it is almost guaranteed that the winner of this listing will make news, and be approached by various news outlets. I am not responsible for the amount of media attention the winner of this listing will receive!"
Nah, I'm sure there were at least 2 sealed fairly recently. I hope people flood him with offers of $5
This. There just there for people to say, HOLY SHIT 500K? Take a closer look at the auction and realise its best offer.
There is never any fun surrounding an overly priced shitty game. Only fun comes from laughing at the poor sap "collector" who thinks this garbage will get him media coverage. It probably would if he payed full price, but it would be only to question why he is so good at wasting money. Honestly, I just don't see the hype around these sealed Stadium Event carts... I understand why other think it is such a grail, but to me, worthless.
Just done a quick investigation and I can confirm this is the buyer who bought the original game for $20+k, that was a complete shocker to me regardless of history and rarity:drool: They've just jazzed it up with the help of VGA and are trying to make mega bucks in return, good luck to them I'd say but be reasonable I mean (com'on)!:banghead:
It's a piece of scarcity. Rare items are more desirable to collectors than common items, it's really easy to understand
Fucking speculators. Getting cool, usable retro stuff is now almost impossible thanks to them. And most of them don't even enjoy the games. Ruining our hobby just for money? Fuck that shith. Let's hope his nephew or wife or whomever opens it, thus rendering the seal worthless.
It always seems like condition goes out the window on sealed games, especially ones like this. It's like somebody says "I've got this game that is new and sealed, and it's worth about 500$ normally, but it's battered to buggery". But somebody else says "oh, no matter, it's still got the seal on, it's still worth 500$ even in that shape". ¬_¬ I just don't get it.
Haha well said Juste:thumbsup: you make perfect sense me old mucker! It's like when I purchased Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (Collectors Edition), I paid over the odds because it was sealed but to my disappointment the edges were pretty rough and there were a few dents on the side and I though to myself I would've been better off buying an un-sealed copy of the game which is in MINT condition and paying half of what I had already paid. I suppose the saying 'you don't always get what you pay for' springs to mind!
Ugh. What a spectacular non-item. I hate exhorbitant sealed game auctions. This isn't even really something cool, IMO. Market pricing notwithstanding, this isn't worth more than about $3-500 for me, just in "neato" factor.
I find it hilarious though how that rating company have given both sealed and unsealed NES controllers a 90+ rating before. And Stadium events only got a 80+
