Hi I'm looking for a thumbwheel potentiometer to add to a BBC Micro (the internal speaker is LOUD, its a bbc master compact) There's a few cut-outs in the case, just inviting a roller type/ thumbwheel pot, the hole is 14mm x 8mm. any ideas where I can find a pot like this in the UK? I'm stumped, tried maplin and cpc so far...unless I'm even looking for the wrong thing? http://uk.farnell.com/ch-products/htw-02-gry/switch-thumbwheel-w-tab-grey/dp/1857108 ok this is a switch, but something like this; imagine the volume thumbwheels on some older monitors etc, surely they are available in some form? any pointers or help or advice is very welcome! cheers, Iain
You mean kinda like the wheel on an old gameboy? Should be easy to find online... or source from a broken unit.
Yeh l think like a roller on an old game boy (?) Thanks for that list of suppliers. Am I looking for the right thing though? Am I describing it correctly- a thumb wheel potentiometer? There are so many types of pot and I may not be typing in the right thing!
Something like this might work? https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11173 I'm no expert in audio circuits. I don't know if it will work well or not. Just trying my best to help.
Thanks for that. That is probably what I'll end up with though I remain hopeful I'll find something with a much fatter wheel, fit that hole better. It'd look better too. The cut out os a good width. Even if i could Id a similar logarythmic pot from another device... Hmmm. Thank you!
Wow interesting ones here esp towards the foot of the page! http://uk.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=Potentiometer+thumb&No=75&FS=True I need a 47 ohm logarithmic .. 8. X 22mm will do with a little case engineering Thx again for help!!
