Searching for: Clock Tower (PAL) [Solved] I have been able to patch a Japanese NTSC ROM to make it work on a PAL Super Nintendo with the Everdrive, it works flawlessly! used tool: snestool12.exe Thanks everyone for the help! Hello everyone, I've been using a Super Everdrive for quite some time now with my PAL Super Nintendo, sadly, a lot of games never came out in Europe so finding PAL games is quite hard. (I enjoy Terranigma however:tongue. But what I really got my eyes on is the Japan only release of "Clock Tower" for the SNES. I have found several versions of it. *Clock Tower (J) [T+Eng1.01_AGTP][h1] *Clock Tower (J) [T+Eng1.01_AGTP] *Clock Tower (J) I've tried all of them but all I get is the usual region lockout message. I have found several region lockout free versions of Earthbound and so on so I'm quite sure there must be a way to get rid of the region lockout. As stated here (http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...ive-Region-locked-games-work-with-a-converter). However, all of this seems quite dazzling to me at first so I thought I'll reg up to these forums and ask. I was thinking of just buying a S-Famicom or a US-SNES but the shipping costs to Europe are immense... sometimes double the amount of the console itself. tl;dr Do any of you know of a PAL Clock Tower rom for the Super Nintendo ? Or a way for me to convert an already existing NTSC copy (.smc) of it to PAL ? That would be much appreciated. On a sidenote, there are converters out there on the market, I was mainly thinking of the NTSC->PAL converter made by FIRE (http://www.easygalaxy.net/cfamiga/pics/SNES Super FX 2.jpg) Does this converter work with the Everdrive ? Seeing as these go for 30+ Euros on ebay (42$ roughly) I'm hesitating to pick one up. Thank you all very much in advance, I'm looking forward to hearing from you guys. Edit: I have just tried to patch the rom with "snestool"'s "fix for PAL" setting, upon launching snestool I get an error message saying that I'm running on a wrong version of windows for this program. (I am using Win7 x64). 2ND Edit: I just ran SNESTOOL12.exe in DosBox to see if it works, the program runs and I have patched the rom for PAL, I will test this one out soon and let you know if it worked! So far, thanks for the help!
Yes, that would be my assumption as well. But there are working versions of Earthbound (never came out in EU as well but still works on my PAL Snes because the region lockout has been removed).
If you're getting an error message instead of a black screen, that usually means you're halfway there. 50/60hz is a second check some games use in addition to region code.
I believe without finding a patched rom. But I don't currently own either a pal cartridge (as opposed to rom) or 50/60hz switch to run detailed tests.
Thank you very much for the help anyways Lum, I was lucky to get snestool12.exe working with DOSBOX, Clock Tower runs fine on my PAL Snes now, in a fan translated english version.
