    I got flagged at work, and the admin was looking at what sites I go.... Got a lil pissed so I started tunneling all my traffic from home, so all they see now is one ssh connection thats encrypted. They were probably reading my email too, so I switched to gmail but still use the tunneling w/ it. Any tips/corrections , please post.

    Requires
    1. ssh account

    Steps
    1. download "plink" and save it to C:
    http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
    2. Start--->Run--->cmd
    3. in the black window that just opened type "plink -D 8080 user@theIP"
    example syntax "plink -D 8080 scuzzo84@204.44.44.44"
    4. In your settings for your browser, do proxy connection with socks 5, type localhost and for port do 8080, you can do this for other programs such as AIM and so on....

    hehe he must be a crappy admin then, I'm an admin myself and I've disabled telnet altogether, .exe's won't run unless they have been installed in the administrator profile and most unused ports have been closed/blocked :p

    Even under the miracle of all that not there though they could just as easily check your cookies, temporary internet files and history anyway, even with tunneling?

    I myself have a much simpler solution that works here on the macs. On a host pc (at your house), install CCProxy. Makesure whatever port you intend to use is port forwarded. Then simply adjus tbrowser proxy settings to use it. Can work on HTTP, SOCKS, and more :). Plus its graphical. Yay! I just made an apple script to clear my preferences and delete temp net files at 3 times, a) when I move any file into a special folder (useful if the admin comes in WHILE I'm at work), b) whenever I set the mac to restart or shut down, and c) at 1am everyday. It's a little annoying to keep entering the proxy, but in the end, the security is worth it :).
