Does anyone remember this game? I never played it but it looks really interesting from what I've seen about it online. Released in 2006 by Runestone Game Development, It was apparently the shortest running MMO only lasting 149 days before the servers were shut down. I am so intrigued by this, the art style looks like proto-Borderlands and the concept is very interesting, you being a colonist on a planet called Beta Hydri, you and your fellow colonists were expecting a terraformed planet when you landed, however due to some unforeseen problem the planet never terraformed and you and your people are stuck on your station/ship thingy. Basically it was a life/politics sci-fi simulation, it seemed like an incredibly ambitious game, however it was so shortlived, it appears the actual game, as in the files, are nowhere to be found online, lost to the sands of time! Does anyone know where this game can be found? An archived version or physical copy or anything?
There're two installers on the old SEED game website, here and here. I don't think they do much, though, other than install some basic files. There is also some documentation: a manual, some maps and a reference guide. Might be more info on the game on the website.
Update, if anyone is interested in looking over the game files the website http://seedthecommunity.org/ has a few archived versions of the game, some concept art and press material, and some server stuff!
Im not exactly sure, I think they couldn't get it picked up by a publisher and/or distributor and so they cut their losses due to low funding and declared bankruptcy.
