Hello! I am looking to pick up a quality capture card to stream a bunch of different gaming on (from PC to PS3 all the way back towards NES on tons of systems). I've researched this to death before and ended up buying a Black Magic Intensity Pro (also per Borman's recommendation). Sadly I report the card is not compatible with my Dell PC (&#$@$#^@$@). Shame as it really seemed like the most well rounded and versatile card for consumer level useage. Anyway, I ended up having to go back and researching my butt off again and these are the 4 I'm looking at: http://www.amazon.com/AVerMedia-Por...8-10&keywords=avermedia+game+capture+portable http://www.amazon.com/AVERMEDIA-Bro...8&qid=1365225985&sr=1-4&keywords=capture+card http://www.amazon.com/AVerMedia-C98...8&qid=1365225985&sr=1-2&keywords=capture+card http://www.amazon.com/AVerMedia-Dar...8&qid=1365225985&sr=1-9&keywords=capture+card Before you go "is this guy nuts? does he realize he put up 4 cards and they all the same brand?" - I realize this. Sadly again with the BMI Pro not working out all the best options imo and through my research come from the Avermedia line. Preferably I'd like the card to do these things well in the endgame: - Accept HDMI as well as Component / VGA type inputs - Allow for bypass to HDTV - Be able to run between 30/60fps at 1080p - Used pretty much exclusively for streaming video games. Maybe recording later, but right now just want to actively stream for my retro nerd buddies lol Anyone have any experience / knowledge / suggestions with these cards (or possibly even others worth mentioning that obviously aren't the BMI Pro)? Even that upcoming Avermedia Portable that I linked above looks pretty interesting. Though, I was under the impression the internal PCIe cards will typically always be better due to less video compressing / syncing / lag / etc. Thoughts? Thanks! <3 ~Chris
I am using a avermedia c027... Its an internal PCI-E X1 card. It has HDMI, Component, S-Video and Composite. Though it only goes up 1080i its still a really good card i find, got for 100$ on clearance at my local shop almost a year ago. There's the blackmagic cards but they can be pricey and i heard they have had bad reviews.
I have the Avermedia Gamebroadcaster HD and it is awesome. Zero lag when recording and has live streaming capabilities. It can only take in component (using that squid like adapter), VGA (perfect for Dreamcast!), and HDMI. There is no pass through so you need some sort of splitter, but it isn't terrible to play off of the recording screen since there is no lag and you can fullscreen the preview window (I do this sometimes when I'm too lazy to turn around to look at the TV across the room ). It has the standard capture range of a HD capture card (640x480p to 1920x1080p). The only gripe I have with it is that there is no audio input (aside from the HDMI). So if you're recording over component or VGA, you need to use the 3.5mm adapter. HDMI can of course capture sound.
Cool thanks for the input! Ya got that one up there in the list. No passthrough is kind of a deal breaker for me, but if I see this card go off cheap somewhere I may snag it up anyway at some point. Anyone else have any hands on experience with some capture cards?
Elgato HD capture card is your best choice It is the best Capture card to date which I already own one and has best reviews too.
! Cool man. Except I'm pretty sure if I were headed the route of the Elgato, I'd rather go with the new Avermedia Portable coming out on April 15th. Both seem like good choices though. Thanks for the input :topsy_turvy:!
