A sad story based on an acount of the ps3 launch in japan by a kutaku member who atteneded one http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/top/foreigners-and-fights-ps3-jpn-launchs-dark-side-214130.php
No surprises here, theres already a lot of chinese working at gold farms in WoW. What I dont get is how is that theres all these chinese homeless people in japan? I thought they had a strict policy against inmigration, and now they are letting people with no lenguage capabilities and no job stay in the country? WTF?
wow, that's indeed sad...but i pretty much expected something like this, money rules the world...and us poor gamers get their ass kicked...
I guess you can say the morale of this story is... if you are a gamer wait 6 months after lauch when there will be choices for games and plenty of systems and the scalpers will be stuck with the initial systems. I was reading on one report the Nintendo plans on having 4 million WIIs out by end of the year. The only question I had from it was this the end of this year or the end of their fiscal year???
Can't say I'm surprised. The Japanese are pretty pathetic when it comes to future planning. Not only for an event like this but even when making roads ! Yakumo
Hey, even the shops are scalping  Today I saw this PS3 in one of those machines that normally push coins from one layer to another. In this machine though it pushes slips of paper that have prizes written on them. THere must be about 2000 slips or more in this machine and I bet that there isn't even one with the PS3 written on it. Anyone who tries must be thick ! You've got 0% chance of winning it. Yakumo
You know, I'm surprised that this crap is selling for such high and ridiculous prices. I expected Sony not to do so well this time around, since the price is so high, but there is always SOMEONE out there with pockets deep enough or is stupid enough to spend $9000+ on a preorder and / or the system. Some people just have WAY too much money. I wouldn't risk it on a first gen system anyway. I'd be back in here complaining about how it broke and I wasted my money (like a lot of you have) on it.
Heres a question: Why doesn't Sony just sell the PS3 for $1999 (or something arbitrarily high) to begin with? Call it an "early adopters tax" and then lower the price as soon as supply starts to reach demand. Since there appears to be no shortage of people dumb enough to pay this much for shiny new gadgets, the console quickly turns a profit for the company who made it, rather than the people scalping it.

Look at the average. I belive it is around 1K. Of which.. You will always have the dealers either bidding up their own auctions or have people, they know, to bid on their auctions add to it other dealers still thinking if they buy it they than can still turn a profit. While there are some legit buyers I do not think you will find to many paying over 1K for it. It was the same when I bought my 360 american version. It took about 1 month but I found one on ebay that cost me a total of 440, this included shipping and was with the harddrive. Hardest part was just getting the bid in the last minute so the dealers friends could not jump in. Give it a few weeks when the hype settles down and the Nintendo launches I would bet these will dump in price. Why spend so much when only a few titles are availible and you can get almost all of them wither on the WII or 360?
i have good reasons to believe that 9.100 USD is just an inflated rate in order to raise the lower auctions, giving the impression that paying for a Ps3 2.000 is steal "cheap" (compared to a 9.100 pricetag). His mates might be bidding etc, and I honestly dont believe that anyone would pay that much when there's not even one game to play on the thing. They must be mentally challenged if so!
Prices are going up in japan: Is $1237 for the top end and $805 for the low end. And theres a bid in ebay, not for a PS3 but for net domains names related to PS3 going right now at $20000. It was closed, for obvious reasons...
Honestly I cant wait till ps3 are readilly avalble, cause then ebay prices will be slightly less then the system costs just like 360 did after launch.
It seems its true: And this is the punk ass bitch who got all of 'em: Who wants to go there and get a couple of units for free? yakumo?
man, 100 units !! What a twat ! Bet he won't have to work again for a good few months ! Hmm, now I wonder if I could get one ? Yakumo
