Well yesterday I decided to take the trolley downtown since I haven't had anything to do for awhile. While down there I decided to visit the mall. Now I hadnt really been to this mall in awhile, however I was amazed to find that....... GASP AN ACTUAL ARCADE!!!!!! Well needless to say I went in without hesitation. Odlly they had a bit of current stuff, and all the cabs were in excelent condition(compared to another arcade thats located in a nice mall as well a distance away). So after playing the first sega rally i decided to see what else they had, to my amazement they had Kof XI cab (U.S. version no WAY!!!!!!!!!) which had two screens and quiet well done I might add. I was going to take more pics of it but the owner was kinda looking at me funny so I put my camera away since I didnt want to get kicked out. Anyway it was refereshing to see a KOF game get this type of treatment, even metal slug 6 has a bit screen cab for its U.S. release. Whats great about this setup is each player gets their own screen, so if someoen decides to face me, they can look at their own screen while fighting me. The monitors themselves are very sharp suprisingly. And yes sega went through the hassal to actually put in the moves list for allt eh characters in english. I found this to be the first time the king of fighters serise has really steped up. Graphically the characters looked a bit cleaner. The backgroudns were much better. And they took a cue from capcom and finally added switching of players on the fly.I dont quite understand how the added 5th button adds much to gameplay. The side of the cab is a nice clean white with wonderful artwork on the side. I really havent seen a fighting game in the arcades get this kind of treatment in years. Does anyone know if the KOFXI jpn cab has a simlar setup?
Hmm. Isn't this a bit too much? I mean look at the size of that thing. Screens are your normal size but the case they sit in is huge! Same goes to the controls. You have room for five thousand buttons there. Kind of an excessive design. Other than that, the game is good. And unlike n-y-n, I would take it without thinking for even a second.
Funny you should say that, i was at the same arcade a couple of weeks ago and they had other sammy games that had the same exact style cab.
That setup looks like it's bigger than Sega Rally 2 machine. Only thing I could complain about is its size. Wouldn't you agree? They wasted a bit of space while making this one. Unless its designed so that you can fit pretty much anything inside. But then again, what's with the small screens? Small compared to the cab that is.
I'm sure n-y-n was being facetious, anyone offered that cab would take it if they had the space, just for resale purposes. It really is a disgusting cab, though.
