I see they used the dodgiest screenshot they could find for Phantasy Star...

    I personally own...

Vol. 3 - Fantasy Zone - Only worth it if you don't own the Saturn version.
Vol. 8 - Virtua Racing - Plays like crap if you have a joypad but is much much better with a proper Logitech wheel. Was disappointed that it wasn't just a straight arcade conversion some of the texture mapping ruins it.
Vol. 12 - Puyo Puyo Tsu Perfect Set - Has an arcade perfect version of Puyo Puyo Tsu and has Nazo Puyo too. If you have another version of Puyo Puyo Tsu on another machine then it could be worth passing on.
Vol. 20 - Space Harrier II Complete Collection - Finally they understand what these collections should have been like from day one. Has most versions of Space Harrier and much nicer options (including prog scan options if you have a component cable as well as 480i and 240p resolutions, this is true for all the below games too). If you like Space Harrier then it's worth getting and if you don't then er don't.
Vol. 23 - Sega Memorial Selection - Most of these games have been on Saturn compliations, but I love it because of Doki Doki Penguiinland. If you like classic games then it's worth getting.
Vol. 25 - Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box - Has so many extras and lots of games that you should just buy it. Some of the best platform shooters on the Megadrive.
Vol. 29 - Monster World Collection - Of course this has the best platform action adventure games on any platform, apart from the English version of Wonderboy in Monsterland on the Master System it has every version. Worth buying for the number of games and the hours you will play it.
Vol. 30 - Galaxy Force II: Special Extended Edition - I love Galaxy force, I do think it's a great if hard game to play. Has the Arcade, Master System and Megadrive versions of the game, and for some reason has the FM Towns CD music as an option (as well as the manual) but not the game. See Space Harrier 2 for an opinion on if you should buy it.

No Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers or Last Bronx as the Saturn versions of all are cheaper and as the article states have more things in them. As for gaming, seem to play about the same apart from a few minor things, if you love the arcade versions and need an arcade perfect version then buy them else get the Saturn versions.

I own a few of these games myself. I like the Sega Ages 2500 series alot myself.

    I own:

    Vol. 2 Monaco GP
    Vol. 3 Fantasy Zone
    Vol. 5 Golden Axe
    Vol. 10 After Burner II
    Vol. 13 Outrun
    Vol. 16 Virtua Fighter 2
Vol. 20 Space Harrier II (Space Harrier Complete Collection)
    Vol. 21 SDI & Quartet
Vol. 25 Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box
    Vol. 27 Panzer Dragoon

I personally think they all have their own good qualities. I will admit some of the games are meh..like Golden Axe...but there are other good ones that make up for the bad.

I am a huge sega fan so I do want to collect all of the Sega Ages 2500 games. I have the US Sega Classics collection but I do not count that.

I am curious as to what Sega Ages games others own and what they think of these games...

Basically Gunstar Super Heroes and forward are all extremely well done ports. They are basically the bench mark of retro remake.

He's referring to the remake, which plays quite a bit differently.

LOADS of dialogue in both remakes. What's worse is there's an equal amount of leveling. Certain key events aren't triggered unless you're a certain level. Quite annoying, but you would get your ass handed to you on many occasions if you went too early.
