    Thanks,
It looks like the good dump of the previously known 2.21 (MD5 ae52bad8ad2ef483d87fb472e521294d).
May I ask how did you dump it and what's the MPR/OPR number of the rom please ?

I am pretty sure your link doesnt include the rom I dumped?

The timestamps are 92 and 93, not 94?

Just mentioning, this BIOS (my modded version or the original from SEGA) malfunctions on emulators. Games will play but it will freeze if you try to access the dashboard. So you can't access the memory management screen or use the audio CD player with this one in a emulator.

    Are you certain?

I just dumped the chip again and it definately says 1994 in it. The ones in your file are all 92/93??

So this is the Asian Multi-Mega 2.21X version of the firmware?

Edit: http://segaretro.org/Sega_Mega_CD#Boot_ROM I've not had much new to add to this list, this is why I'm curious, is it anything that isn't here that we're discussing?

    Yes.

Open the 2 2.21 files you have on that page in a hex editor. The dates are different to the one I posted above.

However, I am certain the OP didnt include the correct file in his archive.

Unfortunately, this isnt for me to share. If he wants it out there, then he will need to upload it or OK me to. I just dumped the chip for him.

Perhaps it has bugs fixed ? Anyway I had it region freed within two hours I was given the file. It used to take up to a week to hack a bios but now... You see, I have the knack. (haha guess which SEGA GAME that came from ...)

I know I have the right file because I was given the original BIOS through EMAIL. I did not download the one in the thread.

    Edit:

Could you make a new list for the region free hacked BIOSes ? Also I can make more of it if anyone want (more versions).

    Yep you're not crazy.

I have a set of files I am trying to upload but my filehost was not cooperating earlier today...

    Here, have a look:

    http://www.4shared.com/zip/78dQwDOc/file.html

Contains original file, changed version for testing on a emulator and byteswapped file for EPROM. :encouragement:

Edit: Forgot to mention, each known (dumped) version of BIOS for the CDX hardware are contained within the archive.

    Have fun with them.

    Edit2:

1- Avoid using the US and PAL BIOS for the already known problems with compatibility. (A lot of Japanese games try to detect the region of the MDCD bios)
2- NTSC games will not play correctly in PAL video system. Some even crash (Annet Futatabi for example crashes on the opening video in 50Hz).
3- Some games (for example Sensible Soccer) detect the region of the MD console so hardware switches on the MD console will be still required for them to play.

Sorry, I can't do that, that page is for official and licensed third party firmwares ripped from chips from original systems, not for modifications, fan BIOS, etc. Sorry.
