    Hello,
I am currently trying to repair a Mega CD 1 EU that freezes at the Bios. It shows the background picture but has no sound and the front leds are off. I tried first the bios, replacing it with a Japanese Region Free chip. It still freezes at the bios but now shows the Japanese bios background.

Next I noticed some leaking capacitors which I am in the middle of replacing but had some trouble.
Is anyone able to help me find an alternate solder point on the IC BD MEGA-CD MAIN BD EXPORT (837-8952) for the negative side of the 10uF 16v at C46
I have been looking at the Schematics here
    http://console5.com/wiki/Sega_CD_v1#Schematics
but they seem to be for 837-8015-01.
    Thank You

just follow the traces back, then use a razor to scrape some of the oating off, flux then solder. done. did you make sure you were feedin it the right voltage? i had one that would do that if input voltage was too high or low.

Thanks, It looks like there is a small solder point right above the pad. I checked the positive side and it also has a small solder point which is linked to it. Using genuine Sega Power Adapters.

Make sure that all components are hooked back up and ribbons plugged in too!!! after the Cap replacement you should be rolling. it's def a power problem.

I've now replaced all the capacitors on IC BD MEGA-CD SUB BD EXPORT and IC BD MEGA-CD MAIN BD EXPORT, same result hangs at bios with background picture and no sound.
Only the CDROM PCB left but will do later.
