There have been debate about which Genesis is best but what about the full setup with 32x and CD system? Is Genesis 1 or Genesis 2 best for the full set up? I am using CD2 (not sure which version) and 32x with VA6 board. I have a Genesis 1 that doesn't have TMSS screen, but Genesis 1 needed stereo cable to get full use of the CD system and I'd like to get rid of that cable. I may end up doing internal mod and move so the plug goes through the back instead. The other drawback is CD2 is often missing a spacer that goes on the side for Genesis 1, my console looks like it's hanging its ass over the edge. The spacer starts at $2o shipped on scamBay. The front loading CD is pretty pricey and hard to find plus they tended to need more work to keep it working. CD2 is easier to get and easier to work with. There's a few minor revisions of this, I've seen some with added daughterboard with chip and a few wires, it looks like Sega added flip flop gates to delay a signal or something by a clock cycle. 32x also has a few revisions and there are service manual that goes in detail of known problem with earlier version of 32x and certain Genesis console. So anyway which Genesis would be better for a full set up using CD2 system?
For the CD2 use the MegaDrive 2 same with the first one, but the MCD2 does have an extender so a MD1 fits on without over hang For the 32X no matter what machine its plugged into it still looks cack
I have Model 1 and Model 1 with 32X. The 32X looks hilarious but I still find the old Tower of Power is just gorgeous. The CD player is delicate as hell though. It would be awesome if someone figured out a CD-Drive emulator so we could keep the original hardware safe.
The extender for MD1 and CD2 is not cheap on eBay. And add to that tower a Game Genie, Sonic & Knuckles, and a Sonic game. If it's also sitting on top of CD1, you got a tower so tall only arcade cab is taller.
Doesn't GENS take Sega CD games? Yeah it's not on real hardware, but it's better than nothing. Also if you get a Model 1 Genesis for the 32X you need a (more difficult to find) patch cable for the video. I've seen some people have made ones that will work and use the headphone jack for stereo, but it's not official.
Gladders, why isn't it working? should be as easy as plugging it into the front jack turn the volume up, then into the Mega CD and then run the audio out of the RCA jacks in the back, if it's not working then it must be something with that board that actually does the mixing.
I honestly don't know. I think I've hooked it up right anyway, but I'd get no sound at all from the machine. But if I simply hook up the stereo cable which goes from the RGB cable, I get sound that way. Eh, I'm not that bothered.
wait gladders are you only using audio through your scart lead? that would be the reason why if so. you would have to get an RCA to 3.5mm female adapter then plug in the audio lead fro the scart to that. but yea i hear ya on it not being a big deal.
No, I have a jack going from the front of the Mega Drive into the Scart plug. So I have stereo, which is the important thing!
