I have a Sega cd model 2 with a new laser, the laser tray moves and the optic try to read but the spindle wont rotate. I use a battery on the spindle motor and it rotates so the motor is not dead. Is there a fuse, cap or something that give that problem? Edit: checking the board I touch the chip BA6393FP this is the controller and get very hot when the lens trying to read. I'm thinking the problem might be there but not sure.
What Voltage/Amperage is the adapter you're using, My issue in the past was my adapter was too low of amperage.
Is the original one 9v 1.2A and is working because the other sega cd work normal. Also the chip with the B6393 in the pic is the one that is getting hot at a point that you cant keep touching it.
Could be either the chip isn't working or the motor is shot or even both. The chip seems pretty easy to find, even on other CD players. As for the motor that takes a bit of hunting, but you can find one for cheap.
Have you done a continuity test, especially on the chip? You might be able to find the problem that way, if something just isn't getting power to the spindle motor.
Hi mates, Are you sure that your new lens is the right model (sf-c93AQ)?? Because I have the same problem with a client sega cdx, the client bought a wrong lens (It is the right lens according to the ebay seller (bh5767), but it is reconigzed across the forums that he sells wrong lenses) and the motor doesn't spin. Un saludo
Yes the lens is the one that replace the JVC optima 6, the motor works I give it some power to see if it was dead but it spin. Others tell me that if the controller gets very hot at the point you cant touch, it needs replacement. Any way I found an IC similar to that one on aliexpress it says in the title 6393 but instead of 6393 it says 6399 on the chip. Can I use that one? http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/BA6393FP/718163_743090077.html
Hi, Do you try to adjust the pots of the cd?? I'm not refering to the lens pot. There are at least 4 external pots near to the lens block that they adjust the angle, the gain and other issues related to the lens that they affect to the engine spin too. Un saludo
