Hey folks, recently I bought replacement lasers for all my sega/mega cd consoles. So that is jvc opt 5 for the model 1 and jvc opt 6 & samsung soh90-t4n for each of the model 2's. These were bought as spares, while they were available, for working consoles. The model 2 lasers work fine. The model 1 however has been a no go. The first, I got had physical damage and didn't work. I had to post it back to America (from Australia) & they sent another one. This one doesn't work either! Surely I wasn't sent 2 faulty lasers, my luck can't be that bad? I did however notice that the seller changed the ad on ebay from "new" to "factory refurbished"or something along those lines. The model 1 does work with it's existing laser, I was just after a spare. I looked for the "solder blob" & there doesn't appear to be one. Usually they are easy to spot and are very obvious. Anyone got further idea's? Not keen to send this one back as I will be out of pocket further (since I paid for return postage the first time). My only other option I guess is to get my arse into gear and re-cap the model 1 and wrap it up and put it into retirement and use one of the model 2's instead. I want to pass all my retro consoles onto my son when he is old enough.
Thank you for the link, didn't realise they could get so expensive! The ones I got (allthough they didn't work) were around the $35 or so mark.
