    Why does

    Every few words

    need a new line?

It makes your posts near impossible to read clearly.

Have you looked at the caps? MCD's tend to have failing caps by now, which can cause read errors.

it was reading and playing the games just fine before the mod, that's why I am more inclined to think its something else

well, its not the bios as its booting just fine.

Its the laser (or laser unit) or the caps

I really hope its not the caps, but is possible, im not sure it could be laser as that's still reads CD Music and wasn't messed with at all before or after mod.
im suspecting that being a jap bios it needs a jap game unless I mod the genesis with region free, or should that not matter.
is there a known list of caps needed or would I just have to sit there an document all the caps one by one and then order the correct amount

Normally sega cd bios's have two region checks. If the console was blocked you wouldn't be able to play music either.

that shouldn't be that case Audio CD don't have region locking for the console to check against

console does, which is what he said.

If the console was blocked (which you asked about region modding to work with the MCD) - then audio wouldnt play either. Audio plays, console not blocked.

what relevance would the internal battery have in respect to the cd booting up

Just to let everyone know that I fixed the problem, it was the internal battery. Because I removed it the RAM needed reformatting and I couldn't understand that due to the text being Japanese. It was pure thinking what if its the battery and I just took a educated guess, and it worked

One good thing that came out of this is I sat down and I documented every single capacitor on the board and now know each and every cap that is used and where it goes. I will eventually change the caps too now.
