Hello. I have a Sega cdx that doesn't play games anymore. I can play music cds just fine. But when i put a cd game it starts to have some error in sound or screen and turns off after sometime. It's like it didn't have enough power to continue to work. So i opened the console and saw this burned piece. I think this is the problem but, i just can't find the component name so i can have it replaced. I would really apreciate if someone could tell me the name or have a picture of this piece. I tried to see it in a internet picture but it's blurred. I have this console since i was a kid, so... a lot of sentimental value. Thank you.

Looks like a SOT23-3 or SOT323, maybe SOT416. That's just the package size of the transistor though. No idea if it would be NPN or PNP. As a replacement though you could use a different size of course, since those pads are toasted.
EDIT: The power stuff is on the other side of that right? Probably something in the power circuit caused that transistor to let out the magic smoke. Might be a good idea to check your power supply, I've had Genesis power supplies start outputting 2-3v higher then they're supposed to.

So any transistor would work as a replacement?

Well not "any", but it'll be either an NPN or PNP transistor, probably rated for 12v, and I don't imagine it will need to be rated for that many amps. So yeah it's mostly just whatever you can fit in there that can make connections to whatever it needs to.
