Hi got other sega cdx broken off a guy in the us i asked hime to bid on it for me as he has done for me in the past as i like buying broken sega cdx consoles to repair any way this one loads cd games and carts probleam with controller port 1 it will not go left i have tryed re soldering the controller port 1 and even removed it and cleaned it but still i have been useing a muitl meter to see if theres a chip that does the conroller ports but i cant seem to find one and the controller port 2 works great. i had this happen back in the day no of the controller ports would work so i just had to get other console as i did not know how to fix consoles back then if some one can give me a idea how to solve this that would be great. :thumbsup: its not a cold solder jonit as i have used flux and lead solder. and i use a 15w soldering iron.:thumbsup:
Break out a multimeter, point one end at the pin on the controller port for left and start tracing it inside the console. I'd also make damn sure the controller works 100% of the time and there isn't some random break in the cable that only happens when the wire is laying at a certain angle.
Multimeter i have been all day on this would some have a look at it for me please out of all the consoles i have fixed this one is the one i cant do i have done broken traces before but i cant seem to find a brake in this one at all please help me.:crying::crying:
I haven't a clue off hand what handles it, but perhaps if the traces are fully functional and there isn't a break anywhere perhaps it is an issue of whatever the CDX uses for I/O on the controllers? I'll go dig up some info now and see if I can find whatever does it and if it'll function like you're describing without the console flipping out. Though back in the day my Model 1 Genny had a controller issue too. Port 1 would have Left+Right pressed at the same time when a controller was plugged in and you couldn't play any games. At the time I was a stupid kid and my "fix" for controllers not working was to...drumroll please....lick the end of the cable and stick it in. Left a ton of goop over time in the port and caused some rusting but it worked. Don't know if that contributed to the issue as I got a Model 2 shortly after to replace it. I'd be willing to look at it purely for kicks but I doubt you'd want to trust shipping such an item to a stranger across the ocean as I would have similar reservations. Particularly after the cost for shipping, though a CDX is a pretty valuable item isn't it. EDIT: Seems like the I/O chip could potentially fail and not affect the rest of the console. I can't find any good pictures of the CDX PCB and the Model 1 and 2 Genesis revisions used different I/O chips and/or combined them into singular chips to save on cost. Wouldn't be surprised if this CDX didn't need a new chip or something of the sort.
power supply issue i can check it out swap parts over i dont see if it will fix the probleam if it does it will be ok thanks will check this out let you know.

I am going to use this one for part's now. Its not much of a loss good for part's for my Asia multi mega.
