I personally dumped this release myself using: Dreamcast (duh), BBA, SYSTEM-DISC 2, httpd-ack, Family Guy's pack, IsoBuster, HxD, Daemon Tools and last but not least the infamous Padus DiscJuggler.

As for changes to the final game I cannot say for sure but look at it this way: this build is at least 6 months before the game hit the shelves in Japan. Also there are 678 files totalling 134 Mb in this release, but 632 files at 846 Mb in the retail release. One thing is for certain: things are different!

If you use a second controller you can unlock the following debug options:

A changes the camera angle (stick rotates camera when possible) in cut scenes. In-game it brings up a save screen.
B teleports the character to a corridoor, B + direction teleports elsewhere.
X makes the character climb in mid-air (then gets stuck so you have to teleport)
Y adds a debug overlay to the screen, Start cycles through debug modes 0 to 5.

Using the L trigger changes the player character's head. Teleporting resets the head to two places off default. Warning - if you change it to the 10th/8th head it is an invalid head and the game crashes. You can tell when this happens as you have a top half with brown hair and the bottom half is deformed.

Using the analog stick and D-Pad appears to change values in the debug overlay but as for the effects, I do not know.

This is the first Bananabreak release. Bananabreak are a group of Beta owners looking to release discs anonymously so I am serving as the public face (even if it is like a slapped arse!), but if there any thanks the anonymous members deserve them too!

    Enjoy!

Carrier is a resident evil type game, right?

Very similar in camera angles and game style. Both survival horror types.

Can't wait to try this out.

Never played the game but have heard a bit about it. Anyways, thanks to Legit and Bannabreak group!

To your knowledge, is there any unused stuff in this beta from the retail release?

ohh, very nice. I finished the japanese version of carrier back in the day. It wasn't all that good but then again it wasn't a total loss. I'm looking forward to seeing what is different in this version.

Just as a heads up if you use a second controller there are debug fatures too:

A changes the camera angle (stick rotetes camera when possible) in video sequences. In-game it brings up a save screen.
B teleports the character to a corridoor
X makes the character climb in mid-air (then gets stuck so you have to reload scene)
Y adds a debug overlay to the screen

Start cycles through various additional debug information

Using the L trigger changes the player character's head. Teleporting resets the head to two places off default. Warning - if you change it to the 10th/8th head it is an invalid head and the game crashes. You can tell when this happens as you have a top half with brown hair and the bottom half is deformed.

Using the analog stick and D-Pad appears to change values in the debug overlay but as for the effects, I do not know.

I was half tempted to buy this and do the same ;) Nice price I think for a relatively early GD-R.

Not really my kind of game but I'll definitely check it out.

Even stranger Alchy it turns out I sold it to the seller in the first place, about 6 years ago! I had so many GD-R I can't remember all of what I had or who I sold them too. It is shame I never dumped them, but bigger shame due to money woes I was forced to sell them :(

Did you spot any major differences yet Yakumo? As I never really played the retail game much I couldn't spot much other than the Jaleco screen is silent, where as in retail you hear it say Jaleco too and the title is different as it says copyrght 1999 Jaleco, retail says copyright 2000 Jaleco.

The art looks a little different, also from the IP.BIN it looks like it was intended to be released on 15th August 1999, yet for whatever reason the retail IP.BIN states it is from 12th January 2000 and it was not released in Japan until 24th February 2000 as v1.003.

I just noticed something weird though: The Beta 1ST_READ.BIN also loosely contains the contents of the IP.BIN at the end, but the retail disc doesn't. K-Project Beta doesn't do this though.

    Thanks for this :)

With regards to K-Project, I d/l a copy of it from [site name removed] a couple of weeks ago and burnt about 4 coasters til I found out it apparently doesn't work on NTSC_J systems. Is there a way of playing it on my JPN machine to save me having to unbox a PAL unit?
