  1. Indeed, Ben Heckendorn has done it again. He's turned one of those little MegaDrives-in-a-pad into a portable. The man's a genius. Quality

I've seen places selling these MDIAP for about £15. Hmmm, might be worth adding a cart connector.....

hmmmm :) now he just have to make a revision where he can put his 32x or sms adaptor to the SEGA EXODUS

    or megaCd addon ? :)

damn he is going further and further last time i saw him doing something it was a PS2 portable and i am impressed by his work.

  4. Would in be possible to wire in the Exp Connector to that MDOAC to enable linking to a MegaCd though? Assuming that chip acts as a MD, it'd just be a case of wiring to the correct pins? But I suppose a slightly larger unit with 32X built in is possible.

I think it would be possible (for a MCD as most of the exp connector is straight from the cartridge connector.) I've been saying how easy it would be to modify the thing for cartridges since it was released.

But look at all those wires...good lord, that's a hell of a soldering job.

I think if you wanted to make a portable Sega CD, you'd be better off (gasp!) tearing up a CDX.

Oh, by the way, this guy made an excellent PS2 portable system as well...really, Ben's stuff is pretty amazing. He has a book coming out about portable-izing consoles...I might pick it up, just to check it out.

  10. That guy is a total genius. And if he's got a book in the pipeline, it would be well worth it - some nice rainy-day modding projects. :smt043
