Hi, I'm new to the forums here, been reading them a few weeks now after hearing about the Sonic X-treme auction. Anyways onto my point, I'm a huge Sega fan, yet I haven't been able to find a good "all-in-one" site that deals with games, consoles, history, and a good community etc. The closest I've came is; http://www.eidolons-inn.net/segabase/, and here for the rare and bizzare Sega stuff. I guess what I am looking for is the GameSpot of the Sega world. Anyway, I would be most grateful if anybody knows of any great Sega fan sites, and if there arn't any brilliant ones, does anyone want to make one? If yes to the latter, what would you want to see on the site and get out of it? Thanks in advance :typin:
I usually frequent the message boards at SegaFans (www.segafans.com/forums), but sadly they don't have much in the way of information relating to Sega prototypes or unreleased software. I once used to run such a place, though I'll be the first to admit that some of my information has now been revealed to be incorrect or not up to date. Besides, the whole thing was closed down because of things I can't really mention here. In a similar experience to Assembler of this very site, I learned the hard way just how much legal power there is behind non-disclosure agreements...
Just out of interest, do you think Sega would still have an active interest in old NDAs such as the recently auctioned Sonic X-treme? Btw where is the video we were promised of that
Welcome to ASSEMbler AimBob ! You may have beenover to my site www.segagagadomain.com to have a look around but I doubt it's what you are looking for as in terms of community as such since there's no message board but there are over 500 saturn games, 200 odd Dreamcast and about 50 Mega Cd and a load of Mega Drive titles as well as other stuff. If you haven't seen it then it may be worth checking out. It's always being updated too. Yakumo
Ahhh, you're the guy selling that Wondermega on www.videogameauctions.co.uk? Nice to see you, and thanks for the welcome . Now....anychance of lowering the price a little . EDIT: Forgot to mention, nice site
Sega might not be taking any obvious steps, but the leak of Sonic X-Treme is definitely something the company is keeping a close eye on, especially since certain former members of its development team have quite bad memories of that specific project. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they've already become involved, as it does seem a long time since the new owner of that disc promised video footage... Non-disclosure agreements, regardless of their importance, will always be important to somebody. While many of the games on my site are probably never going to see the light of day, there are still people out there who clearly take interest when it comes to the discussion of such titles. I can understand this in a way, as it's possible that Sega may wish to release Sonic X-Treme (though hopefully not before finishing it!) in the future. The chance is very slim, but unless we're told otherwise there should always be hope, and maybe that is why everything's gone quiet all of a sudden.
I have wonderful video here, I am just having trouble figuring out the bit torrent part of it.. If you care to tell me how to set up a torrent server...
Yea I see what you mean Anthaema, but I guess it makes collecting unreleased games just that little bit more special (knowing that its illegal and all :evil. Just out of interest though, what do you people reckon will happen to all the archieved Sega/Sonic material? Will it just be destroyed after a period of time, or forever locked away in some secret vault? It'd be great if they auctioned all the stuff off at some point in the future.....imagine it  . Infact that's what they should have done instead of the merger with Sammy. Think about it, they could "leak" Sonic X-treme on eBay and when they've all paid contact them via an official rep stating that the disc has been reclaimed and that they shouldn't bid on illegal material  . Repeat until enough revenue is generated :icon_bigg .
I have a Sega Dreamcast Development resource site for all those who have the dev hardware and want to share info with one another. Also, those who do not have one can always check it out and "feed" their eyes. Unfortunately, my site would have been up, but is currently unavailable, as I'm thinking of adding some flash animation to spice things up a bit. Here's the older site, but with a lot less than what I have saved on my PC: http://gdromplanet.50megs.com Why not Google Video upload it for the mean time. ;-) It's free and keeps your vid in a secure Flash media. The submission part can be a pain in the arse at times, but should not take more than 72 hrs.
SMS Power & Sega8bit.com are both great for Master System-related stuff. Guardiana is a great MD site with a very detailed database, though it's mainly in French (for now).
belive me, if its sonic team stuff, if it was made in japan such as the orignaly and adventure, all that code is extremely secure, for some reason sega of america was very loose at keeping thing secret or from getting stolen or such, its part of the reason why so many dreamcast dev kits and various sega cd and saturn betas have leaked so easily, usually they stem from the american branch of sega. I hear that half the stuff we often dream of owning such as a sega cd dev kit are just laying around their offices as if it were just random useless junk, im curious if the soa offices have complete footage on tape of shenmue on saturn.
Thanks for all the links so far guys :icon_bigg Seems to be some great sites out there although I still think there is room for 1 more ;-) . Anyone got any views on whether or not they would value/use a site dedicated to Sega and all its games/consoles? If you would like to see such a site, what is it exactly you would like to see? Looking through the links http://guardiana.net/ is probably the closest I've seen as to what I would have in mind. What do I have in mind (or rather what would I like to see on a Sega site): Complete games listings with; official review, release dates, user reviews, user comments, cheats, in-game pictures, magazine scans and box scans etc for each individual game. History of Sega, complete with a timeline marking highlights, and release dates etc. A pleasant, friendly and active community forums. Downloadable content, whether it be ROM hacks, game manuals or game music. IRC or some form of chat channel Complete console listing with; official review, release dates, user reviews, user comments, magazine scans and box scans etc for each individual console. A special section dedicated to Sonic (such a Sega fan boy  ) And a Museum of peoples collections showing the very best of Sega It may seem like a lot, and some of the content like the downloads would probably need to be website, bit-torrent or emule links as the bandwidth may get drained, but who knows. Anyways I'd really like to get started on such a site, and heck it may seem ambitious but it'll be fun :icon_bigg. Post your views on whether or not such an idea will be worth taking to the production stage, and whether or not you would be interested in contributing to the content. Thanks
