So, my Sega Genesis model 2 is having an issue while playing the colors will change while playing (I play over RGB). Typically when this happens everything will change to a blue/green hue. I did a full recap using quality caps from console5. My genesis also has the famous power jack issue. I reflowed the output jack but that did not fix that issue. The inside of the power jack connected to the PCB looks worn and dirty. I’m thinking if I solder on a new power jack to the PCB it will fix the power issue. Is the power issue related to the color issue? Is there anywhere else I should be looking to fix the color issue?

Silly question but have you tried a different AV cable?

sounds like you have a simple connection issue with the red wire for your RGB.

    1. Try a new AV cable.
    2. make sure pin 23 from your chroma encoder is connected to your AV Jack.
    3. Check to see if you're getting input voltage on pin 2 of your chroma encoder and/ or replace the 0.1uF cap in series with pin 2.

Success! I reflowed all of the solder on the av jack and on all of the caps near the encoder and the issue is now gone.
