I have a genesis 3 and I was thinking of purchasing a gensis power base adpater (it allows sega master system game to be played on the first model gensis) Will this item work with or damage itself and the gensis 3? Also what about the compatibilitywith the genesis 2 model?

I think it only fits onto the 16-Bit (1st) Model, but I could be wrong!

You can get a Powerbase that is shaped like a normal MD cart and will fit all models of MD. Except it won't work with a Genny3 as there's no Z80 inside. And Virtua Racing won't work either apparently.

No Z80? I find that quite hard to believe, as IIRC the Z80 was used by most, if not all, games. I think it more likely that the Genesis 3 VDP doesn't implement backward compatibility mode, or that the cartridge remapping is not as versatile (which explains why VR doesn't work)

I've never tested it myself, but I hear that a Power Base does work on Genesis 2, but it's kinda awkward. Still, I don't see much reason to fret over compatibility with your Genesis 3. The other models can be had so cheap that it doesn't really matter.

Also, the 32x will not work on the Genesis 3, right?

The powerbase will work on model 2 genesis.

If I remember, the genesis 3 model has most of the chips integrated into a single one. Now this has me thinking and if anyone can confirm this, do any of the toys that just came out that hook up to your TV and have a few genesis classics in the controller built in, is the inside built the same way as the genesis 3, as in it has the same chip, but no cartridge slot. Maybe someone can hack it to play other genesis games on it, that would be cool.

I doubt majesco is still pursuing that project from way back from 1998.
