yesterday i've got a Genesis 3 with a VA2 motherboard, and today i've wired a Composite and RGB video mod to use RCA cables. The composite works fine, but the RGB mod is not working. All the wiring seems to be ok.

I've read that some Genesis 3 do not have RGB output nor Stereo audio (the second is the case in this console). Anyone can confirm this? thanks!

My stock Genesis 3 outputs RGB without mod. I have a VA1 though.

VA1 have stereo audio output? i've seen that there's a stereo mod for VA2, but a second op amp needs to be wired.

Did you wire the RGB to the points on the A/V connector? If so VA2 model doesn't have RGB wired to the A/V port by default. You have to pull it from the video encoder chip.

Not true, it has RGB straight out of the box. I once had a VA2 Gen 3 and RGB worked perfectly fine, no modding whatsoever.

    Strange...

I guess some had it, some didn't then.

Not sure about mine. I haven't opened it back up since I completed my all region single switch mod.

    It is a NTSC-U VA2 model 3.

my console has the rgb output wired to the A/V plug...anyway i did the connections right from the video encoder chip.
Double checked the connections, but no rgb video, i will try with another TV.

I forgot one other thing. RGB has a 4th wire for a SYNC signal. From what I can tell about model 3 Genny is they don't have that composite SYNC wired up. You can pull it from the composite video with a LM1881. It will give the needed SYNC output to make RGB work properly. Also be sure you have a good ground connection. That can mess up RGB signals too it seems.

RGB is just that, RGB. Y/Pb/Pr is also known as component. They are 2 different signals. You'll need a converter to get an RGB signal on a component screen and vice versa.
