Just picked up one of these for £52 (sold as spares and repairs) on EBay, which I thought was decent since these go way over £200 or more. Seller advertised it as (could not power it up) so I took a gamble on it anyway.

However, I tried a PS2 Slim PSU since it works fine on my Jp wondermega, as the CDX uses the same voltage and amps, yet did hear that a proper PSU is needed as the CDX is picky apparently. Anyway, the unit does actually have power going to it, as the LCD screen lights up but the cd drive has no activity. I tried pushing down the cd hinge to trick it into thinking the cover is closed to check the lens to see if it moves, etc, yet it appears to be completely dead.

Do I need a new laser assembly or could this be another internal issue? In addition, what does the LCD screen show with no disc or cart inserted?

I cant check to see if the carts work, as I dont have a proper TV cord. What type is needed? I have a RGB scart for my MD1 and a Sega Saturn one, yet the CDX has a different one again, which is similar to the Saturn Connection based on the connection it has.

    Thanks guys

Obtained a MD2 RGB and there is no display for Carts either. (Black screen) with just the orange LED when turned on.

    Bump

Anyone know where to start with this? Could battery leakage have caused this? Opened the battery cover and its all leaked and corroded inside.

If any corrosion is on the MB would this be a brick and unfixable? Would really love to get this working and such a shame to throw it away since it as rare piece of gaming hardware.

    Thanks
