Hi, I have a Sega Genesis Model 1, inside a VA7 Motherboard, can any tell me how can I overcloking to 10 Mhz or more? Im cant find any clearly info to do this... Thanks!! PD: Sorry for my english...
Sadly you got there the worst revision of the sega MD, most of the people stay away from that board because is not worth to do any mod on it. Sound is bad, picture is bad and I don't think anyone ever does an overclock to that one. You better find one with the motorolla processor in the back of the slot and you're good.
The VA7 Mega Drives seem to have more in common with the Mega Drive 2 than the previous revisions. It should still be possible to overclock this, but the soldering will be more difficult due to the pins being closer together on the 68000. If you can find the pinout of the chip, you can adapt and normal guide.
It is the same procedure as for your average model 2, look for those. It is pretty straight forward as long as you are handy with soldering, lifting pins etc. Actually It has possibily the Best picture of all revisions. But It also has the worse sound. It can be fixed with modding though. One of the weirdest thing though about the VA7 is that It cannot be PAL region switched. This has been confirmed by several persons and it just wont work properly in pal mode. It works fine in JP mode though.
